You know planning is important, but somehow it just.......never happens
You're killing it at work, checking things off right and left, crushing those to-do lists, but one day you realize...where is this all going?
Or maybe you always mean to blog more (or to write a book, learn a skill, change fields, start your dream business, give a conference talk, do that creative project) but your blog is still just that one post from January.
Or perhaps you're running a growing business. It's on you to decide where spend your time and where to take the business. There are so many options, it's overwhelming, how do you narrow it down? And you're so busy just keeping up with the business that you haven't had a chance to step back and think.
Or maybe you did carve out time to plan, but when it arrived, you stared awkwardly at a blank page for a while...then wandered back into your inbox where the work is more pressing and clear cut.
Maybe you've even tried other planning systems, but they just felt like so much work that you never went back. Or you made a beautiful plan, but then never looked at it again.
I've had all of those moments—many times!
There is a better way, and I'll walk you through it.
I stumbled on it as an engineering manager, tasked to run quarterly reviews with each direct report. Some managers were phoning it in, but I had a hunch that with a little structure, it could be my highest leverage point for their learning, growth, and alignment. My entire team was very senior, so along with performance feedback, I also asked them to set their priorities for the coming quarter.
I tinkered and experimented. I used feedback to refine the process each time. I had a hunch planning would help, but I was truly stunned when their growth took off like a rocket ship!
As a wonderful side effect, my team of hard-driving high achievers got happier and more relaxed— because they were crystal clear on the few things that mattered most right now 🏝️
So I started using it too...I've never stopped. It's helped me navigate all kinds of uncharted waters. In my last role, it helped me direct three programs and spin up an entirely new business function.
And it helped me launch my business when I had no idea where it would go or even where to start—and it helped me 10x my revenue in two years without burning out.
🚀
At first I kept it to myself. I thought I was the only weirdo who wanted to talk about planning systems. But clients and colleagues kept asking about it. So I drafted up a workshop. To my surprise (and, tbh, alarm) two people quit their jobs within weeks. "When I saw it all laid out on paper, I knew what I needed to do and just wanted to get started." Is it a stretch to call that life changing?
So I ran dozens of people through several cohorts, making improvements every time. Several people have come back multiple times for refreshers! I've now seen all the places people get stuck. It has helped:
- leaders step back and consider where to take their teams (and how to paint that picture)
- entrepreneurs and founders make hard decisions about what really matters for their business
- overextended people make peace with putting things down
- overthinkers finally cut through the noise
- folks debug why their seemingly reasonable plans aren't moving forward—and iterate until they start happening
In life, all we have is our days.
And your days are more satisfying and joyful when they stack up to the life you want. 🧱

FAQs
Why this approach works
I've tried so many other planning approaches...SO many! But they were all too hard to stick with. Some didn't give enough direction. Some just asked a lot of random questions. Some added to my overwhelm. And some had me make plans that looked reasonable, but were impossible to execute.
But after significant tinkering, I cracked the code. I've done quarterly planning for years now, and taught it to dozens of others. I carefully designed this system end to end to avoid each of those pitfalls, so you not only actually get it done this time, but you come out feeling energized and in control. It'll save you years of trial and error.
Every detail of the workshop—from the pricing to the questions on the signup form to the overall structure—is specifically designed to help you actually follow through.
🔑 Accountability. Done in small groups, I'll notice if you don't follow through. I see you and I'm rooting for you!
🔑 Deadlines. Let's face it: "I'll have time to plan later" is a seductive lie. The perfect time will never arrive, so why not start now?
🔑 Streamlined process to maximize your time. I've ruthlessly cut the fluff, ONLY the good stuff is left.
🔑 Connecting to your big picture suddenly reveals what actually matters in your overwhelming to do list
🔑 Working WITH your brain to build your momentum. "I'll try harder" is not a viable tactic!
Who this is for
If it's up to you to define priorities and execute, this approach is for you. It's a huge competitive advantage for:
- founders, entrepreneurs, and executive directors
- business owners
- anyone with a side hustle
- professional creatives
- trailblazers building something new
And yes, this will be helpful...
- no matter how busy, unusual, or chaotic your next quarter will be
- no matter how much or how little you got done last quarter
- no matter your organization style
- no matter how much you're juggling
- no matter your industry
- no matter what "season" of life you’re in, even if your priority is to rest. It's designed to be flexible and grow with you
It takes several rounds of practice to internalize these skills—but the sooner you start, the sooner you get clarity and peace of mind.
Why plan a "quarter"? That sounds so corporate
Totally fair! Naming is hard, so if you have better ideas, I'm all ears. The real point here isn't aligning to the quarters on the calendar. The point is that three months is the perfect length of time to plan.
It's long enough that you can make substantial progress. But it's not so long that you feel like you have all the time in the world. It's only twelve weeks—better get started!
What attendees get
- Supportive yet firm accountability, so planning actually happens!
- A carefully crafted workbook, honed and streamlined, that you can take with you and use for the rest of your career
- Facilitated small-group discussions to learn from and connect to your community
- Advanced mindset tips and tricks to go from overwhelm to forward movement—even on things you've been stuck on for ages.
What's the structure?
I've worked ruthlessly to streamline this workshop—no fluff, only the good stuff is left. Each exercise question has been tested dozens of times. It's exactly as long as it needs to be, and no longer.
It's the perfect balance of guidance and independent work time, so you don't just take notes—you practice these skills right away and get on-the-spot feedback.
The workshop has four sections:
- Reflection. It's really hard to sit down and just...start planning. If it were easy, you wouldn't be reading this. Instead, warm up with specific prompts that help you celebrate your progress to date.
- Prioritizing. The meat of the workshop! The exact steps to finally decide what few things matter most for you right now, and, crucially, tips on how to be OK with putting everything else down for a bit 😮💨
- Planning. Define the specific actions that will bring your priorities to life and get crystal clear on what success looks like (a crucial leadership skill!). It's easy to make plans, but really hard to make plans that actually happen, so you'll learn advanced techniques—ones I've never seen written down anywhere else—to increase those chances.
- Design your weekly planning routine. This is the shortest part, but it's essential connective tissue. Without it, your plans stay trapped on the page. Spoiler: there are only two crucial steps. Look at your week's calendar, and put something from your quarterly plan into your week plan. That's it. Rinse and repeat.
Sounds simple, right?
It is. But running a marathon is also simple. All you have to do is run for 26.2 miles.
But if you just slap on some shoes and start the race right now, you're going to have a bad time. From what you eat beforehand to how to you tie your laces to how you hold your arms, there's a lot of hidden things that are the difference between bailing and crossing the finish line with a smile on your face.
The same goes for planning. All you have to do is write down what you'll do this quarter, right? But there are so many hidden obstacles! Where to start? How do you pick between all the possible projects you could do? How do you narrow it down to only three things? And how do you make progress on squishy, fuzzy goals? And if something's not getting done, how to debug it?
This workshop uncovers and handles those hidden obstacles, and more.
Is this for planning my life or my work?
It works nicely for both! You're welcome to focus on whatever blend of personal and professional makes sense for you right now.
Important: this workshop is for planning your quarter. It’s NOT designed for planning a team's roadmap, as it won't produce a complete schedule of tasks and dependencies across many teams. It uses a more nimble approach that's more realistic for individuals.
That being said, the prioritization portion is absolutely helpful to groups. And teams report that doing the workshop together as individuals is great team bonding where they learn new things about their colleagues.
How will this help me be a better leader?
With a clear, focused plan in hand you'll be less frazzled. You can show up as a calmer presence, for not just your team, but also your friends and family.
You'll also practice critical skills. Painting a vivid picture of how you want the world to change—also known as vision setting—is crucial for hiring and delegating. Growing your team without this skill frustrates you and them, because they're not clear on where they should be going. It doesn't set them up to succeed. But when you can effectively set vision, everyone can work independently toward a shared goal.
Where is it?
The workshop will take place in Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles, and easily accessible by Metro. We'll share the exact address after you register.
What's the time commitment?
It's a self-contained, one-and-done workshop on a Saturday afternoon from 11-3. We'll have plenty of breaks, provide lunch, and split our time between group discussion and independent work so the time will fly by.
What does it cost?
What's it worth to you to have the peace of mind that comes from knowing exactly which few things really matter? To finally make concrete progress on your dream projects, this quarter, not someday?
And it doesn't only benefit you and your business—making it a deductible business expense—but also your clients, colleagues, investors, and even your friends and family.
You won't need to spend months reading productivity books and experimenting on your own. I'll not only guide you efficiently through a proven process—you'll also get tools and worksheets you can use for the rest of your career.
Workshop tickets are $500 with a sliding scale option. This includes:
- immediate clarity and relief
- step by step guidance and feedback from a professional coach
- hand-crafted, streamlined workbook
- a personalized planning manual you can use for the rest of your career

The true cost of the workshop is $500. We also want this to be accessible to new businesses and those in civic tech, so if the true cost would put this out of reach for you, tickets are available on a sliding scale as low as $250.
I want to take this workshop but can't make that date! What do I do?
- I can notify you if one runs again in your area
- You and I can team up to bring it to your company, conference, or community (just like Omar and I teamed up for this one)
- You can take it as a private or semi-private guided experience, scheduled as two live virtual coaching sessions in consecutive weeks with pre-work.
Either way, get in touch with Sasha and we'll figure it out together :)
